Homework and Passage Reading: | (Plastic storage envelopes are provided in the book pack). Weekly class homework, including passage reading is set and distributed every Monday. Please encourage your child to complete and return their homework every Friday as it is a valuable opportunity to revise concepts taught in class. Students who return homework by Friday enjoy “Friday Freedom” activities. Students who do not return homework, without a valid reason, will complete their work during “Friday Freedom”. |
Home Reading: | Students read with an adult for 5 minutes or more every night and parents sign reading sheet. All sheets are returned to school for awards. Please keep all sheets and readers in the plastic envelope from the book pack. When 1000 minutes of reading is reached a book is presented at the K-6 assembly on Fridays. Reading books can be from home, the school library or from class reading boxes. Books should be returned every Monday. Any parents who can assist with book exchange would be appreciated. |
Literacy Groups: | From 9.10-10.10 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings and 9.10 – 9.40 on Wednesdays. Anyone is welcome to come and assist. The students are divided into five groups and rotate through five different literacy activities each day. Most activities can operate independently, but are far more effective if supervised by an adult. I am happy to provide training for all volunteers and younger siblings are most welcome in the classroom. You might like to stay and help with the change of home readers.

Talking and Listening: | This encourages all students to express themselves verbally and to talk about their personal possessions or family events. Specific talking and listening tasks have been distributed in week 2 of this term.

Sport: | Sport will be every Friday afternoon. Students do not have to wear a sport uniform, but they may like to wear joggers and blue shorts or culottes on this day. Sport will not start until Week 5. |
