Messages from the office

Staffing

I welcome all our students and their families to the 2011 school year. Our school office is open from 8.30am to 3.15pm and our School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) will endeavour once again to assist you with your enquiries in a helpful, efficient and professional manner. Remind your children that the office staff are approachable and are here to help them also.

Prescribed Medication, Asthma, Severe Allergic Reactions

All medication is to be handed into the front office where it is kept correctly labelled in a secure location. If your child requires regular prescribed medication at school, please visit the office to complete the appropriate forms. Prescribed medication is administered once a day to students at the end of recess (11.30am) in the administration/sick bay area.

If your child suffers from any severe allergic reaction to a particular substance (eg, peanuts), please inform the classroom teachers as well as the Principal and Office Staff. A  medical emergency plan of action can then be discussed and organised with you to be implemented if necessary.

School Staff are not permitted to administer non-prescription or over the counter drugs to students (eg, panadol, nurofen).

Payments

Our cash register operates between the hours of 8.45am and 3.00pm.

As the office does not keep change, it is appreciated if you bring in the correct money when making payments.

If making payments by cheque, please ensure the cheque is made payable to Maitland Public School. The school does not have credit card or EFTPOS facilities available.

EXCURSION AND SCHOOL ACTIVITY PAYMENTS

The School is trialling a new excursion and activities payment procedure. Many activities and excursions that are organised require final numbers to be given to the providers before the date the excursion or activity takes place.  In many instances, items such as resources for the activity or transport have to be organised well in advance.  Activities then run smoothly and students gain the most from the learning experience. We are therefore introducing a cut off date for payments so numbers can be finalised when required. Please read excursion notes carefully and check the notice displayed at the front office for excursion cut off dates. Payments will not be accepted at the office after the due date.

Payment Procedure for Stage 2 and Stage 3. All payments for excursions and school activities are to be paid directly to the office before school, at recess or lunchtime.  A receipt is processed and then given to the classroom teacher. Your child’s name is then marked off as participating in the event and as having paid.  The Teacher will then give the receipt to your child, who should return it to you.

Payment Procedure for Stage 1  Payments can be either: Paid directly to the office

OR

Returned to their classroom teacher with the note and payment enclosed in a clearly marked envelope, showing the student name, class, activity and amount enclosed. A receipt is processed and then given to the classroom teacher. Your child’s name is then marked off as participating in the event and as having paid.  The receipt is then given to your child, who should return the receipt to you.  Anne Rumbel, School Administrative Manager
