Rugby League Pumpkin Pickers Cup
The first game against Rutherford (the eventual winners) saw the boys going down a couple of early tries to a well organised opposition. However, the boys regained their composure and hung in to go down five tries to nil.
The second game against Ashtonfield started in similar fashion with the boys leaking an early try before hitting back with a powerhouse try to David Moylan who ran onto the ball well all day. The boys went into the break down two tries to one before a dour second half saw Ashtonfield score two late tries to leave the final score at four tries to one. In the final game of the day the boys took on Telarah in what was our best game of the day. The boys went down two tries to nil in a game characterised by some desperate and dogged defence and a caution to the wind attacking attitude. The boys improved their play throughout the day and were led well by Logan Wilcher, while Carter Redman and Brendon Pettit also stood out. The boys were fantastic ambassadors for the school, with behaviour both on and off the field being of a very high standard. We now look forward to the Knights Knockout competition on Thursday 5th June at a venue for our pool to be announced. I hope to be informed and send a note home this week. I would like to thank all the parents who came to support the boys and I hope that the boys who went home with parents were made to do some housework. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mr Ott and Mr Wilcher who have been helping to train the team and helped run the boys on the day. Mark Cridland(Sport Co-ordinator)
