Geology Film
Volcano Video5/6A have recently entered a film into the 2009 Geology film competition. After learning about rocks and minerals in Term 1, 5/6A decided they had a wealth of knowledge in not only geology but in the use of technology. The script was developed by Alexander Orchard-Stephan with the assistance of the whole class through numerous discussions and draft storyboards. When the script was complete, the students assigned each other roles and responsibilities. Alex Foster was chief cameraman & was often exhausted from the number of ‘takes’ he had to film. The students discussed the use of animation to depict certain characters in their film and Stuart Digby took on this challenge with help from his fellow class mates. The students in 5/6A were then up to the editing. They discussed which scenes needed to be included and some students recorded their voices and added it in various scenes. Connor Delany, Alex Foster, Alexander Orchard-Stephan and Stuart Digby volunteered to begin the huge editing task over the holiday break. Upon return to school, they spent many lunch times refining the transition between scenes.5/6A planned and completed this entire project by themselves. There was little to no teacher assistance or direction. Mrs Anderson did not need to make changes to this work as she is incredibly proud and impressed at the work her students have achieved. This is a film that is completely the work of 5/6A students. Well Done!!
